Virus and threat protection settings disabled

Without any action on my part, my virus and threat protection settings, including tamper protection, were disabled after a quick scan. Despite checking my PC for viruses, no threats were found. I'm curious about the cause of this issue and whether it's a glitch or not. Thanks.
