Windows 10 hit by Virus

My Win10 got hit by an encryption virus. Turned it off right away and looked at the files with linux and many files were hit, but some didn't get encrypted. So. pulled the drives, put in a fresh install of Win10 and logged in. I had a screen saver that displayed pics from a directory. When I logged in, the screen saver with jpgs displayed!! Obviously not on the new formatted drive. So, where are they???? These are some really savable files... anyone???
I will be working on the "other" drives, but not optimistic on recovery.
