New to Windows 10. Does W D start up automatically when the computer is turned on or not? Why does the system tray not show it's running. This is irritating and nerve racking!

Also, why does W D not seem to have an option to schedule automatic scans, quick or full?

Thank you for your expert advice.

Yes.

Yes it is....it's how windows 10 is designed to run/handle WD. Not much you can to about that.

Not sure.....from my experience with WD ....the automatic scheduled scan is a quick scan. In order to do a full scan you must manually open WD and then select full scan.

Have a look at these for a little reg hack to get it to show.....if you want it to....

Hello, Paul.

Windows 10 ALWAYS has an anti-virus program running, whether you want it or not. If you upgraded to 10, your old AV is still running. 10 will not permit you to run two AV programs at once.

Right-click the Start Button and select Control P:anel. Click Windows Defender, and it will tell you if it is running.

Yes.

Thank you. Did what you said but after selecting Control Panel it doesn't say Windows Defender anywhere. I did not upgrade to W10 but bought a new laptop with W10 on it.
