Apps in Startup folder don't

Have several app shortcuts in my startup folder and they always started when the computer boots up. But for the last few days they haven't. Windows updated a few days ago (3-7-23) so that could be the problem. I've used Settings-Apps-Startup to turn on the apps but the next time I boot up they fail to start and in Settings-Apps-Startup they are all turned off again. Should I uninstall the latest Windows update?

The only other thing that I changed recently was to turn off the Windows 'Fast Boot'. Unfortunately I can't remember how I did it! (Another senior moment!)
