One of my Win 10 laptops suddenly lost sound. All the usual solutions didn't work, but I found a bizarre cure that will work for other problems as well,

Go into Settings--Update and Security, and see if you don't have a Windows Update stuck there. I ran it through, and the sound returned.

Yet, just another reason why Windows 10 update system is flawed...well really it's crap. The idea behind it is sound but how MS is going about it....well it's all wrong IMO.

Bassfisher has a point. I had four BSODs in one day yesterday. I checked, and I had a load of updates stuck in there. I set it to install the updates and walked away, and the problem disappeared.
