Desktop Empty - Dektop Folder Has Content

I'm troubleshooting a Win10 system that was that was impacted by a technician scammer who had the user install Supremo remote control. After the application was uninstalled it was noted that the desktop was blank, The desktop folder shows content, but it is not reflected on the desktop itself. I tried creating a new user profile and the condition remains. I suspect that the remote software may have either damaged the desktop function or has left an overlay in place.

Can the desktop function be reset to default or repaired ?

Hi I'm sure you have tried 'Right clicked on the desktop and checked show desktops icons'

Hi Gary,

Yes, checked that. I'm going to take another run at it tomorrow afternoon to get a better idea what went on.
