How do I put/get a firewall on my computer? I am on a home network.

The private network has the check in the green shield but then to the rights says "Not Connected". But under that "windows Firewall State: On

The guest or public networks has the check mark in the green shield AND says connected.

It should look like as in Norton's picture. The fact that it is not on yours means that your computer is connected to the guest network on your router or on an open network in the neighborhood. Since I do not know what is what I am gonna refrain from guessing.
Did you have to put a pass phrase in when you connected to the network??

I am on a home network
Assuming that the above statement means...... Your home and you are responsible for what goes on within it then......
Often it is just a matter of making the network adapter you are using and its' associated network "Discoverable

I want to thank ALL who has tried to help me.(I tried all of them, but could not find some of the places suggested to click on) I finally searched and run troubleshooting (do not remember how I did this, I am a dummy!) Norton, your idea helped the most. I finally got the Private networks to say Connected.

I do not know about a pass phrase, but I did have to put in a password number? Anyone wanting to use my wifi has to put in that #.
