Every time I open Windows Media Player the program always starts to update media library. Why? I don't fully understand why it's constantly updating. I have a lot of music on my hard drive and it takes way to long to update. Anyway I can stop the updating and update only my new music when I add it to my hard drive?

Thank you and Merry Christmas to all.

Right click on the "Music" item in the pane on the left in the library view, click "Manage Music Library" and remove the default %Userprofile%\Music library folder that is added. Any remaining ones are probably from your saved libraries. The default behavior in the Tools\Options menu is that files deleted from your library are removed from your computer. I usually uncheck that option too whenever I customize my WMP.

I have removed the default folder, and also disabled the internet option in the tools, but my media player is still updating. It is listing every song twice, and adding many unwanted :30 second clips, and various noises. I am adding music from an external drive. When I delete something, it automatically adds it back. How can this awful feature be stopped?
