I appear to have lost my start menu.

When I login to Windows 10 the windows start symbol simply changes to orange but no start menu appears. Also my desktop icons fail to display. I believe I have set something incorrect but don't know what!

Right click at an empty spot of your desktop > click View > click Show desktop icons.

Does that work ?

No Start Menu AFTER you clicked at the Start button ?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Since your post does not really describe what you may be able to do with your system, try this.....
Use
Ctrl + Alt + Delete
To launch Task Manger
From the file menu select "Run New Task"
In the box type
Control Panel
HIt enter or click OK
From Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System
Left Column choose "System Protection"
Click the "System Restore" button
Click "Next".
Check the box that says "Show more restore points"
Pick a point in time prior to the problem first presenting.
