I cannot open files on desktop since I downloaded windows 10, any ideas please?

For some reason windows cannot find my files eventhough I can see them I get the following: 'C:\User

For some reason windows cannot find my files eventhough I can see them I get the following: Windows can't find 'C:\Users\myname\Desktop....
