Link Files not working

I upgraded my Dell e5410 from windows 7 to 10 and everything seems to be working except none of the llink files (.lnk) on the desktop, taskbar or start menu are working. I have downloaded a couple of .reg files which claimed to fix this problem when merged into the registry but no joy. I have run advanced system care and glary utilities but they have not made any difference. Does anyone have any other ideas please?
