live mail app not sending notifications

Use live essential mail as my email and have it set as default and set to be in notification area. Do not receive any notifications in my live tile or in notification area, unless I open it and minimize it to my task bar. Why doesn't my live tile work?

Assuming you meant Windows Live Mail (WLM).
I have Windows Live Mail since day one.
WLM never gives in-coming mail notification unless it is opened.

Thank you. I was wondering though why the live tile doesn't work like it does on my windows 8.1 phone. Microsoft changed to live tiles and notifications and was wondering why it won't allow live mail to do that. Seems like there should be a fix for that. Anyone know what to do?
