Solution that worked for me --- plug in unit and then go to device manager
select sound,video and game controllers
select logitech pro and then select drivers
update driver from your computer
but do not select logitech pro
instead select usb audio
it downloads the appropriate driver
I also did the same for the camera
Skype is now back in action.
