Microsoft Money 2007 becomes unresponsive

I have loaded Microsoft Money on a variety of laptops since Microsoft stopped supporting it, and have never had a problem. I bought a new Dell i7, 8th Gen over a year ago and love it because it's so fast. Microsoft Money has worked flawlessly until about early September when one of the updates caused the program to become unresponsive after I make from 1 to 8 or 10 database entries. The application, not the laptop, simply locks up. Sometimes I cannot end the process in Task Manager and have to do a power-off reboot. It is extremely frustrating that I cannot use my finance database.

I have run updates from Dell, Intel and Microsoft with no effect on the program locking up. Any advice/assistance would be appreciated.

My Event Viewer gives this info: Skipping: Eap method DLL path validation failed. Error: typeId=254, authorId=311, vendorId=14122, vendorType=1

Money 2007 is long out of support. Maybe it's a memory issue, try periodically Saving your work, say after 4 or 5 entries.

There was a Sunset version of Money available on the Internet a few years or so ago, maybe this link still works but I don't know if it has all the features desired.

If wanting more power there's Intuit's QuickBooks or the successor to Peachtree Accounting, Sage.

For simpler needs Office has a check register template.

Bighorn,
Thanks for your response. Nothing has changed with my Money program. I tried the sunset version, but for whatever reason, it didn't work the same for me.

I have tried running Money in compatibility mode, but it still became unresponsive. One of the Windows updates changed something somewhere, maybe the registry, to cause this problem. Maybe someone in this forum knows how to resolve the Event Viewer code listed above.

Thanks again,
Jeff
