My laptop crashed after I changed the number of processors in MSConfig. The stop code is BSOD. Can someone help me fix this?

A Stop code usually has an error number to go with it. Did you create a System Restore point or back up the Registry before making the change? Have you checked the BIOS for display of the correct CPU of processors? If not you may be looking at a Reset of Windows, inplace upgrade or a full reinstall.

The easiest and shortest solution is:

  1. Boot into Safe Mode
    • Restart your PC and hold Shift while clicking Restart on the login screen.
    • Go to Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Restart.
    • Press 4 or F4 for Safe Mode.
  2. Open MSConfig
    • Press Win + R, type msconfig, and hit Enter.
    • Go to the Boot tab.
    • Uncheck "Safe boot" and click Apply > OK.
  3. Restart your PC normally.
