NO INTERNET IN ONE ROOM

I have a HP Laptop, I am able to get internet in the room where the router and modem are. I go into another room and I lose internet, BUT my husband is in the 2nd room and is sitting right next to me on his laptop and has no problem using the internet. I have researched this for 2 weeks now and can't get anywhere. HELP!!!

Are you using the 5Ghz band and he is not? Unlikely but that could do it if your walls or ceiling are real plaster not drywall, or masonry beneath the finish. Ductwork in the wall.
We had this in our last house ( built in the 1870s)

No we're using the same band. I had no problems until recently.
