PIN lock

I have tried to change my W10 PC to accept a PIN rather than the Microsoft account password, which is a bit long to type every time, but it won't change the setting on the lock screen. Any suggestions?
{This is brand new PC, replacing an older one also on windows 10, upgraded when W10 first came out. It worked fine on that PC. There seems to be differenced between the upgrade I did to this on Wednesday last, and the one last August. The slideshow on the lock screen won't run either}.

Have you tried to go to .......
Settings > Accounts > left side, Sign In options > right side, under PIN > Add................

Yes. No joy. Still reverts to password.

Have you tried the netplwiz option ?
