I am sure all the security programmes work well, I use Norton Security but the most effective prevention is to use a programme called MailWasher which examines your email on the server before it downloads it so you can delete anything suspicious before it reaches your PC.

Why use a third party software if many email clients have it build in already?? Does it deactivate the spam assassin in Thunderbird too?? If so, it is like Norton --> worthless crap, sorry. Norton does not have the reputation anymore it once had and it has not improved over the years. Just my humble opinion...
