Realtek not showing up in Device Manager

My PC is not detecting Realtek audio. For context, I have an ASROCK B650E PG Riptide motherboard. I downloaded the Realtek audio driver from their website, but Realtek audio does not appear in Device Manager or sound settings. In Device Manager, I only see "AMD High Definition Audio Device" and "Nvidia High Definition Audio Device."

I’ve tried restarting and uninstalling drivers, but I’m not sure what to do next. Help would be much appreciated.

According to a review on Tom's Hardware the motherboard does have RealTek audio. The rest of the information about the computer could be helpful as far as what has been added like an Add-in PCIe card/s, something else attached.

It sounds like the Realtek audio driver might not be installed correctly, or it could be disabled in the BIOS. Here are a few things you can try:

Check BIOS settings: Restart your PC and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing Delete or F2 during boot). Look for an option related to onboard audio and ensure it’s enabled.

Reinstall drivers: Uninstall any existing audio drivers from the Device Manager. Then, download the latest Realtek driver directly from the ASROCK website specific to your motherboard model, not just any generic Realtek driver.

Windows Update: Sometimes, Windows Update can detect and install the correct drivers. Go to Settings > Update & Security and check for updates.

Add Legacy Hardware: In Device Manager, click on "Action" > "Add legacy hardware" and follow the prompts to see if it can detect the Realtek hardware.

Try these steps and let us know if any of them help.

Adding to what FazeBonk mentioned, you should also check if the Realtek service is running. Here’s how:
  1. Press Win+R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Look for a service called "Realtek Audio Service" or something similar.
  3. Make sure it’s running. If it's not, right-click it and select Start.

Event Viewer:
  1. Check the Event Viewer for any related errors so press Win+X and select Event Viewer.
  2. Look under Windows Logs > System and see if there are any error messages related to audio.

Ensure that your Windows installation is up-to-date and that there are no pending updates that might affect driver installation.

One more thing you could try is to disable the other audio devices temporarily to see if Realtek shows up

Thanks for all the suggestions! I checked the BIOS, and the onboard audio was enabled. I reinstalled the drivers from the ASROCK site, but still no luck. Windows Update didn’t find any new drivers either. I also tried adding legacy hardware, but it didn’t detect anything new.
I’ll check the Realtek service and Event Viewer next, and try disabling the other audio devices. Hopefully, something works. If anyone has more ideas, I’m all ears!
