After renaming my PC (laptop) the boot asks for my password but I had used NETPLWIZ a year ago and everything was fine (i.e. no password required). I have installed version 1803 and used NETPLWIZ but the box saying the username/password had to be entered was NOT CHECKED.

Any suggestions?

{Had used "rename PC" as I was about to test out the Near Sharing feature}

Just thought of this – I should use NETPLWIZ and indicate that the name/password are required – reboot – then the use NETPLWIZ to turn off the requirement and reboot – I'll update this thread.

EDIT: SUCCESS – – after the above, rebooted multiple times and password was never required.

Bottom line: ignore this thread
