SOLVED Screen selection option not working

It seems that every automatic update causes significant problems. The latest is the loss of screen selection between my laptop which functions as my cpu and my secondary, larger monitor which I prefer to use. Both screens now show the same data, and the means by which I used to be able to select screen 1 or 2 in Settings does not function. I can no longer select either.

Any explanations or fixes out there in Windowsland?

Have you checked with your laptop manufacturer (preferred) or graphics card vendor to see if there is a newer video driver? Microsoft sometimes installs a generic driver during updates. The graphics vendor may also provide a settings menu in addition to the menu in Settings. When I right click on an empty space on the desktop I get this:

Windows > Settings > Display may have some new / different settings than you had in your previous version.
