In windows 10 can I make a shortcut to gmail on my taskbar? How?

Sure....
Click the Start Button, All Apps, Windows Accessories, Internet Explorer
Go to
Signin if you'd like to get to your InBox
Top right hand corner of the browser window click the "Gear" icon and choose "Add site to Apps"
Now just reopen the Start Button menu and you should see it in "Recently Added"
Right click it and choose "More" -> "Pin to taskbar"
