Sleeping laptop wakes up when unplugged

I have my laptop set to sleep when I close the lid. That works. But after the computer is sleeping and the optical mouse has shutdown (lamp off), if I simply unplug the power brick it will wake up again, the sleep light goes off and the mouse lamp comes back on and it starts running (lid closed). Any ideas?

I don't remember seeing that happen with the lid closed. Have you check the power settings for what you show happening when on battery or power? It may be in the advanced Power options related to Power Buttons and lid.

I agree that I have probably done myself in with the power and lid settings: the laptop is in presentation mode, screen and sleep are set to turn off 'never' on both AC and battery, and as I said originally closing the lid is to cause 'sleep' (and I'm seeing the same behavior (wake up when unplugged with lid closed) when I manually select sleep before I close the lid). Having said that, I think it's a bug to wake up with the lid closed when I remove the AC power...
