When transferring files onto a usb, I can put them in alpha order with explorer, but when I watch the TV series using media player they seem to be split into two sections e.g. A - Z & A to Z,
There is nothing on the usb to sort the files using the media player.

I've always been a bit confounded when it comes to Windows Media Player and the parameters it uses to enumerate files for the purposes of playing them in some sort of order.
Have you considered using the Play List function and dropping your files into a "new" play list in the order you would like them to play in and then launching that play list.

Sorry should have made it clearer, it is an external Media Player that I connect to my TV in the bedroom as the TV hasn't the facilities to use USB.
