Spam on this site

Almost daily, when I open this site, I see many posts of obvious spam. This is quickly dealt with by the staff. A lot of it is in Chinese characters, some with just symbols.
As it is so frequent it occurs to me that it could be a nasty minded new member who has had his feathers ruffled? But, presumably, there are ways to check this.

Ian has been working on it for days.
The problem is, that it's like playing whack-a-mole.
Knock one down and another pops up.
He's hard at work searching for a more permanent solution.

Yep, we're working on getting this one nailed down - it's the most problematic spam attack I've ever seen. I don't want to say too much in public, as they'll see this - but we're getting there .

I do wish that we could discuss this but I understand the reluctance. I am a moderator on another site and the recent spam (for about 1 1/2 months) has been horrendous. Most of it has been from offshore and much of it has been porn.

I just noticed the date on the preceeding post. I guess you have been successfull because I have not witnessed any here..

I have to congratulate the mods and admins here as they doing a very fine job in preventing this and if something gets through then they respond to reports very quickly and remove such unwanted posts....
