Task Manager shows multiple Edge entries even when closed

I have noticed on the odd occasion that MS Edge freezes and the screen only displays in sections when I move the mouse pointer over that area. I opened up Task Manager and found that Edge was using just over 3GB of memory. I have 8GB of installed RAM. I then closed Edge but found that multiple items of Edge remained in the Background Processes. Is this normal? And what could cause Edge to be using so much memory? Is this an indication of a possible problem? Any help would be appreciated.

I have noticed that a while ago as well. However there is a easy solution. Open settings in Edge and go to "system" and turn off the settings marked in the picture:
