I’m having trouble installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86) version 14.40.33810. The installation fails with an error stating that older versions cannot be removed. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Used the uninstall/install troubleshooter, which detected no issues.
Edited the registry to remove references to the older version, as suggested in various forums.
Ran a registry checker to ensure there were no corruptions.
Uninstalled and reinstalled all Visual Studio programs. The x64 version installs without issues, but the x86 version fails every time.
Made sure my Windows is up to date.
Performed a virus scan.
This issue is preventing me from updating network drivers that a x86 Intel driver checker needs. Any advice, other than a full system wipe, would be greatly appreciated as this has been a recurring problem for years.
