Hello,
I'm running into the problem that Windows 10 doesn't recognise my usb stick. It wants to format it before I can read it.
Does anyone have a clue?

Is the Thumb drive brand new or has been used on another computer, could it have been formatted/reformatted at that use? What size/capacity is it? All the drives I use came factory-formatted as FAT32 up to 64GB, don't have a larger one, yet. Windows has a formatting limit with FAT32 of 32GB, I use Linux Mint to manipulate partitioning of larger drives with FAT32 [have done up to 500GB], Windows can use NTFS and exFAT for larger than 32GB.

The USB stick may have gone belly-up! Have you tried it in another machine?

I have had a couple of sticks that have decided they have had enough and exhibited the same symptoms as you have described. When I tried to reformat , even that wouldn't work.

Remember, it is just another piece of electronics and subject to the same chance of failure!
