Visual effects seems to revert to default every now and then

I generally turn off all the visual effects in Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings. Things like the animations and fades etc.

But every now and then - and it seems to be sometime after an update is done - they all come back again and I have to go back in and uncheck them all. Not an issue but just irritating.

Is this something others have seen? Is there something I can do to fix this?

Allan I double check my security, privacy and how updates are delivered check after every update. I've had settings mysteriously change after updates. It's the update (how updates are delivered) settings I'm most concerned with after an update.

Yes. I have also experienced some of the customising settings being changed.
I also go through the same path as the op, but, in that area, have not noticed anything being changed without my intervention.
