Shortly after advised by Microsoft update from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 on new Acer Aspire E15 E5-571-309Q laptop, on 25 th September the Windows 10 "crashed" (internet did not work, pictures did not open, panel of closing of computer did not appear and so on), and now I am without computer. What can I do? Who will cover losses I have as I can not work?
This is not a separate case, as my collegue had the same on her new laptop.
This is not possible to have personal contact with Microsoft Latvia office.
Manager of Baltic Data, where laptops were bought, after telling about the problem advised me to reinstal Windows 8.1 as as he said Windows 10 is not fully ready, and there are problems to many people.
How can Microsoft distribute the halfready product? Who will cover the losses caused by it?
I need immediate support from Microsoft!

This is very unfortunate, but MS makes it very clear that they are not liable for such losses, and they explicitly say to backup your system (implication: with a full image backup) before embarking on upgrading to Windows 10.

I agree with you, I don't think Windows 10 is ready for prime time yet. Mine logs me out when I attempt to uninstall AVG TuneUp (a separate issue, I won't bore you with the details).

If you are able to recover your files, I suggest getting a OEM copy of Windows 7 (typically about $50) to put on your Acer, run the upgrades (about 200 of them, all at once), and upgrade from there. I was able to upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 10 on an Acer Aspire One with only 1 GB of memory. I had no problem upgrading my Toshiba Satellite from Windows 8 or 8.1 (can't remember), but after reading the (many) horror stories I decided to find a safer path.

1. Get an OEM copy of Windows 7, I suggest Pro.
2. Create a bootable flash drive from the ISO using Rufus. (Instructions can be found at http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com, which is recommended for anyone upgrading to Windows 10, even if you are not installing on a Dell computer.)
2. Use Belarc Advisor to get license info at EVERY step, including after the successful upgrade, so you will have a printed record of all of the licenses.
3. Backup your system (full disk image) before and after upgrade. Use backup software that provides the ability to restore from a full image backup onto a clean disk.

Regards
Jon

Windows 8 and Windows Vista had many issues when it was released. When upgrading to a new version, it's a must to make sure all your data is backed up. You have 30 days to roll back your PC to windows 8.1. I'd advise doing that.

Forgive me if I am being blunt in answering to you.
I have no affiliation with Microsoft, and I have no intention of defending Microsoft.
However, I feel compelled to set the record straight.........................

RE : How can Microsoft distribute the halfready product?
What does not work for you does not equate to the product being "halfready".
There are many many people having problems with Windows 10. No doubt about that. But, there are also many people having no problems with win 10 at all.
I have 2 computers upgraded to Windows 10 and they all work out fine.

RE : Who will cover the losses caused by it?
Windows 10, in your case, is a FREE upgrade.
It does not cost you money to obtain it.
You installed it on your own free will.
What " losses " ?
Why should anyone be responsible to "cover" those "losses" ?

RE : I need immediate support from Microsoft!
That sounds like a demand. If so, please talk to your Microsoft Latvia Office. If they can't help you, that's their problem.
Forums such as this one do NOT belong to Microsoft. There is a difference.
We are here as volunteers helping others whenever we have time to, and only when we have time to.

Finally, count down starting on September 25th, you have 30 days to change your mind and go back to Win 8.1.
If you want to do that, follow these steps...................

Left click at Start button > left side, select Settings > select Update & Security > left side, select Recovery > right side, under " Go back to Windows 8.1 ", click the Get started button > follow the prompts and it will lead you back to Windows 8.1.
After you are back to Win 8.1, set your Windows Update to Manual. That way Windows Update will not be able to download Windows 10 to your computer without your consent.
