So I recently Purchased an SK hynix 500 GB SATA drive intending to clone my HDD unto the SSD for faster performance.

I have setup the disk in computer management and created a volume. I tired multiple cloning softwares(Macrium,EaseUS Partition Master,SKHSSD) and they have all gave me an error similar to

“Clone failed - Error 9”

I checked the ssd health using chkdsk and It appears that it is healthy.

What should I do?

I considered a fresh install but i’m not sure if I want to loose my files.

Is the drive to be cloned still in use or have you started the computer with something like a live-CD?? Error 9 usually indicates read errors on the source disk, either from a bad disk or due to locked files by the OS.

Another way could be making an Image then restore that Image onto the target disk.

I would run the following command
chkdsk x: /f /x /r
I recommend for my clients 1 of several - all are easy depending on your abilitys
1. Acronis 2020
2. Paragon
3. Macrium Reflect
4. Snapdisk
I also recommend they Use a Win10XPE Bootable Disk, then run your prefered. and ea mentioned offers a tutorial on there respective web site.
and several versions of Win10XPE Bootable images with different Image Programs are around.
here are some links that i share with others. I also have tested ea and find them 100% usable. and have offered NO Ill effects to any.
DL and copy to any USB with Rufus (recommended)
