Had a complaint last night from my most important client (wife).
Her machine was continuously trying and failing to update.
I checked and she was still running 1803.
Who knew.... she never lets me touch it.
I used the Media Creation Tool to obtain the ISO file from Microsoft, went about cleaning all remnants of previous failed attempts including $Windows.~BT & $Windows.~WS folders, something called an update partition marker (whatever that was) and her software distribution folder which had grown to about 16 gigs.
Disconnected her from internet and mounted the ISO and ran Setup.exe.
The upgrade from 1803 to 1903 went without issue and the result was 18362.239 had been installed which left only a single cumulative update to install after I reconnected the machine to the internet to bring her machine to 18362.267
