Automatic passwords?

I am not aware of having created a password to logon to Windows 10.
At unpredictable times, usually after I have left my PC (a Lenovo G50) on for a while without using it, a screen appears demanding a password. I am able to recover, though I have no password to give, by doing a hard reset - pressing the power button a second or two, then waiting a few seconds and pressing it again to start up.
I read the routine posted by many about running netplwiz, but it seems also to say that there is a password requirement.
I wish to disable the logon screen, but I might want at some point to enable it (for a trip, say) when someone else might try to use it without permission.
The question is: Do I have a password automatically? Can I find out what it is?
It may be relevant that the computer was purchased with Windows 8. I later elected the free upgrade to 10, which is mostly fine, except for this problem of the logon screen appearing unexpectedly in the middle of a session.

This simple customisation might be enough for you?

Settings - Accounts - Sign in options

If you've been away....etc
Insert "Never"
