Can't boot after update, can't boot in safe mode either

Hi all,

My wife's laptop had an automatic update and after that impossible to boot. After 3 times I'm in the recovery menu.
I can't boot in safe mode either so I can't go and uninstall that update.
I think that I could uninstall the update through command prompt, but I would need to know the exact name of the update (kbxxxx..), correct?
I've been looking around for a command prompt to list the latest updates, but I can't find one (wmic qfe list doesn't do anything)
Is there another command prompt to list the updates?

What can I do?

OK, so I just backed up my files and did a reinstall. Lost all the installed apps.
