The Windows Creator Update loaded on my desktop last night. Now every time I try to open my Outlook.com email a screen comes up trying to sell me Microsoft Software (Organize Your World). Outlook.com Premium. Office 365 Home. Office 365 Personal, I already am subscribed to Office 365 Home for 2 years now. The screen offers two buttons, one to purchase and one to just login in to my mail. Hitting the login button takes me directly to my mail. But every time I close Microsoft Edge and re-open I have to go through this screen again to get to Outlook.com. Anybody know of a way to stop this screen from coming up. This never happened before the latest Windows 10 Update aka Creator Update.

Hi MikeTe,

The screen you are seeing initially is controlled on Outlooks server, so this is nothing to do with what version of Windows 10 you are currently on per se [ i.e. Your latest update did not change anything at all; its a new Manifest on Microsoft's server ].

If it really bothers you the simplest way around this would be to create a new shortcut:
  • Right-click on an empty spot on your Desktop and select New > Shortcut
  • In the Type the location of the item field enter the following:
Code:
https://outlook.live.com/owa/?nlp=1
  • After entering the above, click Next
  • The Type a name for this shortcut field will already be populated, but if you like you can replace the text there with any name you like.
  • When done, simply click Finish
Now all you need to do is use your shortcut to go directly to your Outlook webpage, which will open in your default browser.

Note: If you have multiple browsers, you can simply copy & paste the shortcut location: https://outlook.live.com/owa/?nlp=1 into the address bar of the browser and press Enter.

Note also: This work-around could in the future be blocked by a new manifest from Microsoft, so make hay while the sun shines.

Hi Regedit32,
That worked. Thanks for the reply. I don't think I can get that on my Favorites Bar since Microsoft messed up our ability to manipulate our Favorites Folder, but it works. Sometimes I think Microsoft is against us rather than with us! Anyway thanks again.

You can edit your Favorites - in this case your Outlook item in the Favorites bar, using a third party tool.

http://www.emmet-gray.com/Files/Applications/EdgeManageProgramFiles.zip
  • Download the EdgeManageProgramFiles.zip
  • Once downloaded, close all instances of your Microsoft Edge browser
  • Scan the download with your security software to make sure it is safe
  • Now right-click the zipped download and select Extract all
  • When it opens the extracted folder, click the EdgeManage.exe
  • Double-left-click the Favorites bar folder to expand
  • Right-click on your Outlook item and select Edit url

  • Now click File > Save Changes

  • Close the application
You will now be able to open Microsoft Edge and your Favorites bar item for Outlook will work as you want it to.

You're Welcome.

Just remember, the tool only works while all instances of Microsoft Edge are closed.

Wait a few seconds after closing Edge as Windows takes a moment to close the process in the background.
