Hp 255 failing to open desktop, gives this notification -" C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofileDesktop is unavailable. ..........


or Desktop and Cotana is not available"

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Have you tried with a new user account? Maybe try this......
Go to
C:\Windows\System32
Find
Cmd.exe
Right click it and choose run as administrator
At the admin command prompt type
net user JohnSmith /add
hit enter
then type
net localgroup administrators JohnSmith /add
hit enter
type
exit
hit enter
Restart and log in as JohnSmith

See if the problem is specific to your profile or if the problem is more global across all profiles..... even a brand new one.
