Display driver stops...sometimes crashes 10

I have a Dell 2305 running an AMD 64 bit processor.
It originally ran Win 7.

Randomly, I get an error message that the display driver stopped.
When magnifier is running, its window goes black.
It sometimes recovers...sometimes it crashes the system and goes into restart.

AMD web site says its due to a timeout with no further help.

Any insight is very welcome...thank you!

What graphics card/onboard graphics does your laptop have? What drivers are you running?

The card is AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series

(Hmmmmm ... the problem seems to occur when I have magnifier on. I am visually impaired.)

BigFeet,

Thanks for your input.

All Windows 10 updates are installed.
The issue in the error message points out an AMD driver.
** I will try your suggestion! **

The more this happens, the more it looks to be tied to having Firefox launched.
I have been using Edge for several hours now...no occurrences..
I launched Firefox a few minutes ago and BANG! Actually BANGS until I closed it.

I had Win 7 on this system for years...no display driver errors.
(And Firefox is/was my browser of choice.)

Again--thank you.

OK...I think I have a handle on this.

I have been using this computer all day with Edge and Firefox both launched.
No problem now for hours.

As soon as I launched Magnifier...BOOM! Display driver stopped error message, and the magnifier lens went black.

I shut down magnifier, and all is well again.

Mystified!
