DVD drive stopped working after Windows update

I have a laptop with a dvd/cd player that seems to stop working after a update (I am not sure witch update) can anybody help?????????

Put a disc in the drive, right-click the Start button, click Device Manager and see if the drive is listed. Also do the same with Disk Management, may show there. Could also be a setting about hiding empty drives has gotten changed. May not need to have a disc in the drive but doing so should help waking things up.
