Creating DVD for DVD Players

Have you tried one of the DVD creation programs such as CyberLink or Roxio? If I needed more than a one-off creation I'd spend the money but generally the budget doesn't support it. The one I really needed done was by an imaging/photo processing company in a nearby town [35 miles away] and wasn't cheap. I was warned that there may be a slight loss of quality in the conversion but wasn't noticeable from a few feet away from the screen.
