I have a Dell XPS 18 running on Windows 10 right now, and currently it will not let me run a Ethernet Driver program. Supposedly, my computer does have the ethernet card but not the ethernet drivers currently installed, so I cannot connect to my LAN. I found this program on Dell's website, where it prescribed a program called LOM RealTek_W7_A02_Setup-G6X W2_ZPE. The description of the program said it was an ethernet driver.
Upon opening this app, it says "This publisher has been blocked from running software on your machine". Funny, considering my Audio is from RealTek as well. When I go to properties and check "Unblock" it then says "An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information, contact the administrator.
I am the administrator on this computer, and I have no other accounts on it.
I strongly need help getting this unblocked so I can use my ethernet!
Any help will be much appreciated! :)

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Please check device manager.
Expand Network adapters
Right click the problem adapter and choose properties.
Select the Details Tab
Change the drop down to hardware ids
Select the top line in the value box and right click and choose copy.
Paste the results here in your next post.

Hello!
I'm relatively new to windows 10. Because of this I don't see a devices "manager" section per se, just a devices section. How do I get to the Network adapters section?

Here are the results.
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B1&SUBSYS_C4708086&REV_6B
The only network adapter listed at all was a "dual-band wireless" one.

Nothing in Device Manager under "Other" or with any kind of indication of a problem device with a shield or exclamation on it?
Perhaps if I knew your service tag number I could help more.
If device manager isn't seeing the device at all then that would suggest that there is a physical problem with the hardware.

So I have an apple usb to ethernet adapter, and in the device manager, under other, when I clicked on the apple adapter it said this.
"
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."

And then when I clicked update driver, it said they couldn't find anything for it.

So it is not a native hardware device but an add-on USB dongle?
Same deal.
Device manager, properties of the problem device, details tab, hardware ids, first line of the value box.

There may be a driver out there somewhere that may work, but without knowing any of those specifics, I can't even search for it.

Go here http://www.asix.com.tw/products.php?op=pItemdetail&PItemID=136;71;101
Download one of the two drivers listed below, depending on your system architecture (32 or 64 bit)
Windows 8.1/8.0 32-bit Driver V3.16.10.0 2015-01-14 For 32-bit x86 CPU platform, WHCK certified 1.6 MB

Windows 8.1/8.0 64-bit Driver V3.16.10.0 2015-01-14 For 64-bit x86 CPU platform, WHCK certified 1.7 MB
Then save it to a new folder on your desktop and use 7zip to extract it.
Then
  1. Open the Device Manager.
  2. Right click the device you wish to change the drivers for. You can select Properties > Driver > Driver Details to check you have the right device.
  3. Choose Update Driver Software.
  4. Select Browse My Computer For Driver Software.
  5. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  6. Select Have disk...
  7. Select Browse..
  8. Navigate to the extracted folder and double click on the .inf file
  9. Hit OK, then Next and the driver(s) will then begin to install.

I'm having trouble finding "Have Disk..."

if you've followed the steps as I outlined, it should be a small button with the words "have disk" just below the box labeled "show compatible hardware"
