Changing the product key in Windows 10 can be done in just a few simple steps. You may need to do this when changing editions or if you have changed license type.

To begin, open up the Settings app from the start menu:

Why would I want to change the key?

It's unlikely that you'd need to do this, but there are some unusual situations where this may apply. For example, someone may be using a Volume Licensing key that would no longer be valid under some circumstances, so rather than formatting and applying a different key, it's possible to retain the existing OS and save time .
