How to make my external ssd like a usb flash drive? to create a bootable ssd

I use Rufus to install W10 on a usb flash drive to install W10 from the usb. I have a ssd and I put it in an encloser with usb cable plug into the computer. I just can't use Rufus to install W10 on the external ssd. How can I make my computer see the SSD the same like a USB flash drive. Thank you. Please advise.

I havnt read the link, but I have bootable external devices, through the USB.

I have the usb as a boot option, set in the bios.

One thing to watch for in using a bootable USB device is that most BIOSes can boot Legacy USB [it's a setting] using the USB 2 ports but unless really new or having combination ports don't have support for USB 3 until the OS loads the drivers.
