Icons added to desktop ( png & jpg) do not show as preview when desktop starts up

Only see a generic "mountain " scene What settings need to be changed I have tried many searches with no luck

Hi Davee3,

are the icons associated with an app or are they simply just pictures?, if they are just pics, the mountain is the symbol for the default Windows photos app and the pics are linked to that app unless you install a different photo/pics app!. :)

If they’re true icons (they point to a program or app) then they should have an .ico extension & not .jpg or .png as these are photo extensions.

Ok I guess not "true Icons" Default viewer is Windows Photo & even after a restart they do not open They have jpg as properties

What program are they set to open with?
If .jpg files are already set to open with Photos app as default then they may be corrupt.

Install a different photo app and then right click on a pic > Open with and select the new app (you can also set it to default!). ;)
