When Windows first opens, after sign-n, is there a method by which I can insert a picture in that gray circular area where it says "hello". Right now it's a full small circle atop a cutoff larger circle. If possible, I'd like to insert a personal photo there.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say.....
That you are maybe??? Talking about your "Account Picture"
Click the Start Button, choose Settings, click the Accounts icon, where it says "Your picture", click browse and locate an image file on your computer that you would like to use.

IF you're talking about something else, then.....
You'll need to supply some extra details.

Hi Trouble, I guess that would be called the 'Account Picture'. When I get a photo in My Pictures I give it a try and let you know. At present I'm trying to follow some suggestions as shown in a book by Paul McFedries - "Teach Yourself Visually". Thanks again, will let you know.

Glad it worked out for you.
Thanks for the follow-up.
Good luck with the book. If they only had one titled "Teach Yourself What Not To Do". :)
I'd read that one.
