I just read through the blog. The only thing that is interesting to me would be the storage sense thing.

I just don't see where MS is going with Windows, are they just going to add bling forever until it is so big that it is useless?
I will stay out of the Insider program for a bit longer I think

Good luck with that.
So far I've gotten two failures and what seems to be a loop of initializing, downloading and installing (rinse and repeat). No sure what's going on but shall perservere.
So far the only error I've glimpsed is
Windows 10 Insider Preview 16266.1000 (rs_prerelease)
Failed to install on 6/21/2017 - 0x8024200d

Lucky me.

Like pulling teeth downloading and installing, however we finally got there.

Got to congratulate the developers for some seriously great improvements to Edge and driver support for my Ralink 802.11n Wireless Lan Card.

Everything I noted as issues in the previous release has been addressed and touch wood all is stable at the moment.

I love the fact they finally incorprated Gray's idea of being able to edit Favorites and Favorites bar URLS in edge.

Almost everything: I see the Photos live tile still does not work.

Are you one the Fast ring Larry? If not you'll have a lengthy wait for the update.

What is the status of the download in Updates & security?

I had to sit through seeing it download x2 and install x2 before it finally said you must restart computer to complete.

Did you see that message?

Yeah I think the display of download - install - then download and install again in the Update & security is a bit of a bug when it comes to prereleases.

That part took over an hour.

It then finally said I had to restart the computer to complete, and then it appears to do everything twice there too, but did eventually get there. This also took close to an hour for me.

Keep at it, the actual prerelease is pretty stable once installed.

Note one thing though:

You need to disable .net Framework 3 and lower as that will prevent it installing.

Go to Control Panel, click Programs > Programs & Features, then in left pane click turn windows features on or off and make sure .net Framework 3.5 is not checked!

Once installed, you can enable .NET Framework 3.5 again if you need it

it is already disabled, thanks for that. It appears to be doing something now for 15 minutes or so... I guess we're on the right track

You most likely are on track --- as I said it took close to an hour for me --- it was so tedious lol

You're Welcome Larry.

So far its been very stable my end - although I was playing with the Registry and managed to find a way to upset it big time lol --- no worries though; just had to reverse some modifications to resolve that.

Like pulling teeth downloading and installing
A good way to describe it.
I'm generally used to getting lightly pummeled during these installs and often 'like' the bit of mucking about that one has to do to get the installs completed sometimes, but.....
This one has really tested my patience.
The install on my Hyper-V Virtual Machine finally completed after the third try. I can't remember the last time I had a problem install on that virtual machine.
The install on my physical machine (insert expletives) .....
I'm still looking at
Capture.PNG

After multiple restarts and stone cold shutdowns and subsequent startups.
Been in this exact same spot twice now, after cleaning out the software distribution folder and $WINDOWS.~BT folder and pretending like the first time never happened.

So now I'm going to try another upgrade on this machine with the ISO that I made with the UUPtoISO utility and see if that drops me on my head in the exact same place.
IF so I'll resort to my good ole standby......
Wipe and custom clean install.

I'm still looking at

When it got to that waiting for restart status, I left it for 1 hour, figuring there will more than likely be a lot of things going on in the background, given how long it took to get to this stage.

After that 1 hour pause I clicked Restart, then sat back for an hour while it restarted and installed.

Might be worth a shot.
