Hi All, I have a Computer with Windows 10 Home. All is working well except it has developed a problem with Update for Windows.
The recent Update 2020-01 cumulative Update Windows 10 V. 1909 for X64, (KB4532932) which also had the Update for Net Frame
The Net Frame update installed OK, The KB4532932 installed as far as 20%, then it comes up with the Install Error 0X800f0831, and advises
me to try again later.
I have tried many times later, and it makes no difference.
I would not like to have to install Windows 10 again, involving loosing all my current data There are lots of suggestions on the internet, they all seem complicated,
and some go back a number of years. It would be appreciated if there was a newer solution to fixing the problem, and that was
simple to perform The old 84 year brain is not as good as it used to be. Hoping you can help me.

the latest cumulative update for 1909 is the KB4528760 which is the 2020-01 that increases the build to 18363.592 .
KB4532932 is indeed the dotnet framework update 2020-01 but for Windows 7 and Server 2008, not for Windows 10 as already mentioned by Wolfie.

BTW: the latest CU for the dotnet framework is KB4532938 (for Windows 10 1909)

Hello Wolfie, I Downloaded from the Catalog Link Update Windows 10 V. 1909 for X64 KB4528760 and all
took quite some time, the Install Green Line went all the way to the end, and then it said Failed to Install.

Then I tried the Update setup through the settings, and it downloaded to 20% then came up again with Error
again 0X800f0831. Then it was strange enough to then download Net Framework KB4534132. and this installed correctly,
and did the normal Restart. Unfortunately, I am no further forward with KB4528760.
Appreciate all your help, hope you have another cure. Kind Regards. Alf.

Hi Alf,

open Settings > Updates & Security > Troubleshoot > Get up and running > Windows Update and try running that, it should (fingers crossed) fix the problem for you!. Keep us posted. :)

Hi again Wolfie, Sorry but that did not work, It did come up with a different Error 0X80242008.
Do you think that my best choice would be to Reset the OS ? It is a pity because the Computer works well, just has a problem with Update.

Hi Alf,

you can certainly try a reset, you can keep all your files intact (but most likely not your installed apps?) when you check the right boxes!. Backup any files you have to a USB storage device for that just-in-case scenario. :)

To quickly install a bunch of apps, use the following link:

Hi Wolfie, I have done a Reset, took an awful long time, however it was worth doing, as the Update now has installed KB4528760.
Thank you for the Link to ninite as that has saved me a lot of time installing the Apps. Your help was fantastic.
