Installation of .NET Core in addition or by replacing (traditional) .NET?

Assume I would like to try out and install .Net Core (v3.1) on my Win10 computer.

Does it always automatically replace the existing .NET v4.8 installation or can I install it in parallel (=in addition) to .NET v4.8?

Do I have to manually uninstall .NET v4.8 or is it done automatically when installing .NET Core v3.1?

Control Panel > Programs & features > Turn Windows features on & off and tick the box then restart!. :)
