I downloaded tis
Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows® 10
Installs the Intel® Network Adapter drivers release 25.1.1 for Windows® 10. so I can enable VLAN tagging on my laptop, but apparently this does not support the intel (R) 82579LM gigabit network connection on my laptop. so looks like I will have to build another laptop that will support VLAN tagging. Thanks for your response.
