Lost sound from desktop

I have lost sound from speakers and headphones.Have heard windows system sounds.Control panel headings were not of any help (not that I can find anywhere.Help please

Look in device manager and open the tab sound and see what driver(s) are installed.

Thanks for your reply, after using the pc several times today sound has returned.Do not know what happened here but I am back in audio business now
