SOLVED My stories on Facebook

Not sure if I am supposed to post this here. Please delete if need be. Whenever my Grand-daughter in-law post, say a little vid or pick of my great grandson. The image or vid shows, then auto advances to next frame which is most always some filth. It will then go to another frame that will be ok. I`ve tried about all I know to fix this. I can block my stories, but then I would miss wanted family post. Any advice will be greatly appreciated,,, All auto play is set to off. By the way, New Microsoft Chromium Edge is ok by me...

Hi Jaybo,

do you mean it is showing pornography on your FB page?. Do you have Windows Defender as your only AV, or do you use a different AV app?.

Thanks for your reply, Yes , it is on Facebook, Only when I view my story post made by any friend,
I use Malwarebytes and ADW cleaner along with defender. Always scan clean.... Never see porn on Facebook otherwise...Thx Jim

Hi Jim,

do you have your browser set so it deletes all history (clear browsing data) once you close the browser?. If you don't, there may be something lingering in your internet temp folder that activates when you re-open the browser?.

No, Not set to delete when browser closed. I do clean/clear all history at least weekly tho.

I ditched all social media a little over a year ago....but that said, and if I understand your question correctly. You are viewing posts made by someone else on your FB home page. That's the page where you see what ever anybody has posted. You just scroll down and see a pic/video and click on it and then after first pic you get that porn stuff.

It's one of two thing. The content is on user posting said pics/videos or your FB has been hijacked. The first thing I would do is change my password on FB and then reboot system and then open FB and log in and see what happens.

I don`t think I explained it correctly. I never get any porn post on timeline page. It is only when I get a notification that a friend has added a post to their (My Story) page. It happens on nearly all contacts that post to their my story page, not just one. It does it even after a clean reset. It must be coming in on some friends page...Dog-gonned if I can figure it out. Will change pswd and see if that helps Thank you so much Jim

Ah...time line page.....I forgot that's what's it's called. I got the gist of what you were trying to convey. It sure sounds like you FB account has been compromised.

A clean reset of windows will have no effect on a web based application like FB where you use a browser to access the site. It could be that your browser is compromised as well. What is your primary browser of choice?

That makes sense, I use Edge chromium. I will try fb on my Firefox and see if that makes it go away...If it turns out to be fb on edge, what do I do ? Thanks..Jim

I would check a few browsers......Chrome, Firefox and Opera. If all good....then reset Edge Chromium to default settings. Are you using any extension on Edge Chromium?

Here's a tip for windows emoji's......windows key + . (period) that will open the new emoji feature of 2004 windows update that was release for windows 10 on May 28th.

Yes.....very familiar with 2 of your extensions.....Adblock and FB purity. I've switched to Adguard for ad blocking. I like it better then Adblock or Adblock Plus. The emoji one, not so much.

@jaybo Have you gotten the new interface they are rolling out? If so, FB Purity is not working correctly with it yet. He says he's working on fixes.

uBlock Origin is a better ad blocker, and I believe open source.

I will do as suggested "Turn off all addons and switch to Adguard. I will watch closely for a (My Story) post and check on other browsers. See if it stops this filth, Thank you, ...Jim

Yes, I got new interface quickly . This was going on before and after... Sure could be a facebook nasty....

I would still do as I suggested earlier and set the browser to delete all traces of usage when I close my browser. Not saying this will help but it might?.

Well gents, Not absolutely positive, but here is what I came up with by implementing much appreciated advice by all.
I removed AdBlock & cleaned all cash again. Then I installed AdGuard and waited for a nasty on a contact`s my story post, All clean, no included nasty. did the exact thing, only installing UBlock, No nasty again. I suppose all I can think of is some of my contact's have been compromised ,,,Right ?? I also set browser delete cash when closed. Before I did anything, I used Firefox, Chrome, and Brave ...no my story nasties... If anything changed I will whine again Thanks to all,,,Stay Safe and God blessings to all
